GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

The primary role of the Commercial Mortgage Production Intern is to provide ongoing support to the American Equity Commercial Mortgage department’s production team in the underwriting and analyzing of new commercial mortgage loan opportunities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the production team to underwrite and analyze potential loan opportunities through the review of Correspondent loan packages, analysis of financial data including completion of rent roll input and cash flow spreadsheets, determination of quality and functionality of collateral, and review of borrower commercial real estate expertise and financial capability.

  • Gather and evaluate economic, demographic and other real estate market data for potential loan opportunities.

  • Present loan opportunities to Loan Review, draft mortgage loan applications and prepare Loan Committee recommendations under the direction of Originators, as time allows.

  • Assist with the annual financial review of the loan portfolio.

  • Complete Commercial Mortgage department special projects as may be required.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Actively pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in a field related to real estate, finance, accounting, economics or similar field.
