Title: Arbor/Plant HealthCare Intern
Education Level: Sophomore – Senior
Schedule: May - August, M-F 7:00 am – 4:00 pm
Reports To: Regional Manager
Wright Outdoor Solutions offers indoor and outdoor services to residential customers and their communities across the country. These services include landscape design and installation, complete tree care, lawn care, seasonal maintenance, interior and exterior holiday lights and décor, interior plantscaping, land clearing and mulch. Wright Outdoor Solutions is offering internship opportunities to individuals who are eager to gain hands-on, real-life experience while working side by side with our team of professionals and drawing upon your knowledge. You will be trained and work directly with a personal mentor on an individualized performance plan. You will also be given feedback on your performance while having the opportunity to give feedback on ways to enhance our internship program. In addition to the hands-on experience and in-depth training, Wright Outdoor Solutions offers interns a competitive compensation package.
Work alongside Wright Outdoor Solutions crews to observe, train, and perform tasks for proper pruning, removals, and clean up
Move tree limbs and other debris from worksites to chipper and waste removal location
Learn the equipment and safety procedures followed to ensure compliance with ANSI standards
Safeguard employees and public from hazards in and around the work area
Work alongside the Plant Healthcare department and assist with performing applications for fertilization, disease and/or pest treatments
Learn safety and how to properly handle chemicals
Work towards obtaining the 3OT chemical certification
Help enforce on-the-job safety practices
Performs other related duties as required or assigned.
High school graduate or equivalent required
Currently enrolled in Forestry, Horticulture, Plant Science or related 2- or 4-year program preferred
Strong desire to learn and a positive attitude
Aspiration to provide excellent customer service
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
Ability to travel and work in all weather conditions to accommodate the seasonality of the industry
Ability to work flexible hours
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Ability to lift a minimum of 50lbs
What You Will Gain:
Basic understanding of the residential and commercial tree care operations
Knowledge of tree/plant care equipment operations
Enhanced tree identification skills in the Midwest
Proper pruning techniques
Assistance with obtaining 3OT chemical certification
Understanding of diseases, insects, common pesticides, and spray equipment
Working knowledge of work hazards, proper personal protective gear (PPE), safety operations, and practices commonly used in forestry and plant health care operations
