Work Shift

1 - First Shift

The Data Analytics Intern helps perform data analysis to make sense of and draw conclusions from information buried in raw data. Must be able to query information in relational databases like Oracle SQL, Web Focus Info Assist or similar.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Demonstrate the Vermeer characteristics of caring culture, demonstrating agility, customer focused, and stewardship and model the associated behaviors.

  2. Analyze data sets using various statistical methods to identify patterns within data, gain insight into process performance, and identify opportunities to improve data quality. Leverages current information sources including databases, data and process models, business requirements and other artifacts to research and resolve issues.

  3. Help populate a comprehensive data conversion strategy and approach including inventory of data source, metadata, volumes, quality, issues, reconciliation and remediation. Participates in planning and execution activities to identify, extract, reconcile, transform, load, and validate legacy and converted data.

  4. Support the development and use of automated tools to deliver comprehensive data cleansing, matching, and quality monitoring capabilities for legacy master and transactional data. Troubleshoot and resolve discrepancies to maintain data integrity and quality of information assets.

  5. Prepare data warehouse documentation and participates in unit testing and/or user acceptance testing for project deliverables. Provide post implementation support for data reconciliation and quality issues.

Education and/or Experience

  • High School diploma required.

  • Current student pursing a Bachelors’ degree in Statistical Science, Computer Science, or Mathematics.

  • Previous internship is a plus.

Other Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of current analysis tools that are state of the art for business data development.

  • Strong ability to manipulate large data sets and condense data into useful high value information.

  • Excellent analytical skills.

  • Experience in mobile, PC, and web software.

  • Ability to create accurate, professional and error-free documents in a timely manner.

  • Demonstration of good oral and written communication skills.
