This job was posted by : For more information, please see: If interested in applying for the Food Service Coordinator position please apply at Food Service Coordinator is responsible for directing the overall food-service operation of the camp including purchasing, food preparation, nutrition, service, sanitation, security, personnel management, record keeping, and reporting.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES Manage the daily operations of the camp food and dining service. Oversee the planning and preparation of fresh, healthy and nutritionally balanced camp meals, snacks, and pack-out food Assist in the development of a rotating weekly menu using fresh foods and items from the camp garden Adapt menus for special diets and health needs Ensure the service of camp meals through directing the work of other employees Ensure safe and efficient preparation and serving of camp meals Ensure that all operations follow all GSUSA, ACA, state, and county guidelines Oversee the inventory and ordering of food, equipment, and supplies and arrange for the routine maintenance, sanitation, and upkeep of the camp kitchen, its equipment, and facilities Maintain inventory of food and household supplies Order food and kitchen supplies consistent with menus and enrollment counts Maintain high standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and safety Clean and maintain all food-service areas, including kitchen, dining hall, storage, kitchen recycling Inspect equipment and ensure equipment is repaired as necessary Promote practices that seek to reduce waste, reuse items, and recycle as much as possible Oversee program in the kitchen for girls to learn food safety, preparation and meal service. Integrate girl programming and badge work into the food service plan Instruct campers and staff in safe food handling and sanitation Provide opportunities for girls to assist in the kitchen with meal preparation Train, supervise and evaluate kitchen and dining room employees. Monitor employee performance and training Assist with interviewing and hiring of cooks and all kitchen staff Plan, coordinate, schedule, and supervise the work of other food service staff Identify and communicate maintenance needs in those areas Maintain cleanliness in all areas Properly dispose of garbage and maintain trash disposal areas Communicate with staff on a daily basis Observe staff performance and provide informal feedback on a regular basis Complete written evaluations on kitchen staff and provide formal feedback Function as an effective member of the camp staff team: Participate in staff meetings, in-service, unit meetings, other meetings and camp activities as requested Maintain excellent communication with campers, parents and staff Take an active role in the continual evaluation of campers, programs, and staff Serve as role model and guide campers in appropriate behavior, language and attitude Use sound decision-making skills in solving problems Maintain a high level of energy, enthusiasm, and motivation Be responsible for the use and care of council-owned equipment Serve as a role model for campers in appropriate behavior, language and attitude Run errands and transport food and supplies as necessary Ensures Girl Scouting is open to all girls and adults by delivering the Girl Scout message of pluralism and diversity to members of the council. Promotes and assists with Council wide programs, activities, public relations and fund development endeavors. Other duties as assignements POSITION QUALIFICATIONS and REQUIREMENTS Minimum age of 21 Experience in institutional or large food service setting. Knowledge of and experience in food service: ordering, inventory, budgeting, food preparation, family-style serving, buffet serving, cleaning, and institutional kitchen equipment. Current certification or licensure for operating a kitchen in the camp's jurisdiction. Ability to work within a budget and purchase supplies efficiently. Experience supervising the work of others. Knowledge of current health and safety laws including Girl Scout Safety Activity Checkpoints and ACA standards. Knowledge of and experience in preparation of special dietary foods. Physical ability to lift and carry 50 pounds. Experience adapting menus and preparing food to accommodate special dietary and health needs Excellent physical and mental health. Ability to walk long distances and stand for long periods of time; ability to tolerate a variety of weather conditions including heat and humidity.
