Corteva Agriscience Greenhouse Technologies Intern - 3 Month (Johnston, IA) in Johnston, Iowa

Corteva Agriscience is seeking a research Intern to participate in a 3-month internship designed to give a broad based exposure on the day-to-day activities within the agricultural research based greenhouse in Johnston, IA. Position duration is May to August 2021.
Responsibilities - What You'll Do:
You will be part of the team that manages plant quality- a horticulturally based approach to growing numerous agricultural crops within one of the most advanced greenhouses in the United States. The role will focus mostly on learning about integrated pest management; where you would support the team that manages insects and disease on numerous agricultural crops that include intensive use of beneficial insects, innovative equipment, and software to manage pests.
Support the pilot testing of new software and technology while learning about sensor-based irrigation and fertilization, the use of supplemental lighting in the greenhouse, environmental controls using technology to manage and make informed decisions to produce high quality plants.
You will gain valuable hands-on experience learning about many aspects of plant quality and how technology can support this.
You will be expected to present some aspect of your experience and impact to the greenhouse at the completion of your internship.
Qualifications - What You'll Bring:
Current sophomore, junior or senior standing at an accredited university
Education focus in horticulture, plant science, entomology, plant pathology, with desire and some applied experience integrating technology and horticulture
Minimum GPA requirement of 3.0
Must be enrolled at an accredited university at the time of internship
Candidates should be able to work well individually and as part of a team and have a strong desire to gain real world experience in integrating technology and horticultural practices
