Join our team as anAccounting Internfor Delta Dental of Iowa, where you will gain comprehensive exposure to accounting and learn alongside a talented team that ensures financial accountability, regulatory compliance and effective resource management to improve the health and smiles of the people we serve. You will have an opportunity to conduct daily cash posting and balancing, complete financial statements, process refunds, and analyze data. You will also learn how to complete month-end processes, monitor revenue generation, collect payments, and handle day-to-day banking responsibilities.

This temporary, full-time internship will start in May 2025 and work a hybrid schedule from our Johnston, Iowa location. Hours will be Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Learning Objectives:

  • Enhance and expand accounting knowledge.

  • Learn how to complete a month-end process.

  • Learn about and monitor the generation of revenues, collections of payments and day to day banking responsibilities.

  • Learn new accounting skills and contribute to day-to-day accounting operations.

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers, co-workers and other resources as needed.

  • Complete special projects on time with high quality.

  • Engage in programs and networking opportunities to strengthen business acumen in the insurance industry.

  • Support internship program by motivating and driving participation among intern peers to fully engage with opportunities available throughout the summer.

  • Represent Delta Dental of Iowa as well as the other Delta Dental companies in a professional manner both internally and externally.

  • Maintain strict confidentiality.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be an undergraduate student working toward a bachelor’s degree in accounting, business or related field.

  • Must be able to demonstrate current 3.0 GPA or higher through transcripts.

  • Must be registered as a student to college or university for the 2024 Fall session.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and intermediate Excel proficiency.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.

  • Participants will be required to submit a written analysis of project work and present a summary of analysis to leadership at the end of the program.

  • This position requires successful completion of a pre-employment background check and drug test.
