This offering requires applicants to be able to commit to work 15 hours/week during the semester with opportunities to work up to 40 hours/week during university breaks. Work shifts must be at least 2 hours long. Business hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.This internship will collaborate with everyone in the Central Sterilizing HR department working on a variety of tasks ranging from general HR Duties to specific recruitment tasks. Student HR Interns must demonstrate the ability to juggle multiple tasks at a time and have initiative to seek out new projects and tasks when assigned tasks have been completed. Interns must be able to maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality while working in a fast paced and high demand environment.In this position you may be expected to: Participate (as an observer) in interviews for various positions. Create hiring board requests as positions become vacant and creating the workflows necessary to maintain accurate position management. Participate in the CSS onboarding for employees who are newly hired or acquired via transfer from other UI departments. This will include an introduction to the I-9 employment verification process. Create Requisitions upon receiving hiring board approval to post. Review current job descriptions to assure continuity with the criteria stated within the requisitions. Perform other duties as assignedRequired Qualifications: Registered student at the University of Iowa taking at least 1 semester hour per semester. Available to work up to 15 hours per work week (Monday - Friday) during the business hours of 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. during school semesters. Scheduled shifts must be at least 2 hours long. Clear and concise communication skills in order to effectively relay information to full-time staff members, potential new employees, and student peers Strong attention to detail and proven ability to gather and analyze data and keep accurate records. Demonstrated ability to handle complex and ambiguous situations with minimal supervision. Self-motivated with initiative to seek out additional responsibilities, tasks and projects.
