Hourly Summer Camp Program Job OpeningsThe City of Iowa City Recreation Division is accepting applications for positions within the SummerCamp Program areas. Hourly program staff assignments may include the following:Summer Camp Supervisors ( Counselors)15.00 per hourProgram Duration: June through AugustDefinition of Work: Plans and leads activities in a variety of areas for children in grades K-6 in campsetting. Responsible for groups up to 10 in number. Assists in conducting overall Summer Campprogram for children in grades K-6, indoors at Robert A. Lee Recreation Center, Mercer ParkAquatics Center and outdoors at various city parks. Includes pre-camp and post-camp supervisedplay, equipment and supply provision, and maintenance of camp records ( attendance, parentcorrespondence, health records, etc.). Distributes T-shirts and similar activities. Has direct contactwith children and parents. Conducts self in a manner which promotes and supports diversity andinclusivity in the workplace and community. Performs other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications: 16 years of age preferred and/ or considerable experience planning andimplementing children' s recreation activities preferred. Interest in leading activities in all campareas required. Ability to take and give direction required. Attention to detail required. Quickthinking, resourceful and enthusiastic nature required. First Aid/ CPR/ AED certification or ability toacquire required. Must pass criminal background check.Hours of Operation: Varied daytime hours, Monday i FridaySummer Camp Coordinator15.50 per hourProgram Duration: March through AugustDefinition of Work: Conducts overall STEAM and Nature Education focused Summer Campprogram for 40-50 children in grades K-6 indoors and outdoors at the Ashton House, City Park, etc.Includes activity coordination, supervision of leadership staff, and pre-camp and post-campsupervised play. Has direct contact with parents and children. Conducts self in a manner whichpromotes and supports diversity and inclusivity in the workplace and community. Performs otherduties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications: Bachelori s degree or Associate degree from an educational institutionaccredited by a DOE recognized accreditation body in a recreation or related field and/ orconsiderable experience in planning and implementing recreation activities for children preferred.Ability to organize work duties and schedules, communicate well with others and meet deadlinesrequired. Attention to detail required. Must be enthusiastic and motivated. First Aid/ CPR/ AEDcertification or ability to acquire required.
