Looking to intern on our Member Experience Team (MET)? The health care industry is changing and Wellmark is working to help change it for the better. We recognize that our health insurance members (customers) deserve health care with a focus on quality – not quantity – of care. We also recognize that health care is complex. We’re working to ensure our organization is positioned to drive deeper understanding of solutions that help our clients navigate the system and make clear, informed decisions, and we’re ensuring that we take a team-centric approach to providing that analysis to our members. MET is a team of dedicated and matrixed resources focused on improving our member engagement through the research, design and delivery of an enhanced member experience. You will support the planning and delivery of projects both across our Technology division as well as internally to help us mature our project management capabilities.
What projects might I support? Although subject to change, examples of projects you will be contributing to include:
Work closely with MET team to assist in project coordination
Assist in providing program management support to ensure business processes and solutions align with objectives
Collaborate with team members to develop, plan and implement, report and measure execution and outcomes related to member experience programs
Support organizational change management and process enhancements across Member Experience Team and partner initiatives

This internship will start in May of 2021 and be onsite in Des Moines, Iowa or potentially virtually pending Wellmark's return to office strategy. Our focus will be on ensuring the best possible experience given the circumstances at the time; however, you should plan to be located in the Des Moines area for the summer of 2021.
Current junior, senior or graduate student studying Business, Communication, Program/Project Management, Industrial Design, Organizational Management, Leadership or related field
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with business areas
Ability to build relationships and influence others
Experience prioritizing and managing time with little direction
Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to think strategically
Results oriented and quick learner
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships of collaboration and trust
Effective facilitation, negotiation, and presentation skills
Previous experience working in an office setting preferred
