About the DDM Summer Internship Program:

The Dotdash Meredith Summer Internship Program is a 10 week full time program that runs from June 12th through August 18th, based out of our New York or Des Moines office depending on the team. The intern program consists of hands-on learning, opportunities to create work that has an impact on the business, along with workshops in preparing you for post-college life (resume / interviewing) plus, some fun events throughout the summer!

The rate for our DDM Summer Internship is \$20/hour.

About the Team:

We are the Dotdash Meredith Test Kitchen, based in Des Moines, Iowa, a state-of-the-facility that contains 10 galley kitchens, two dining-room style tasting rooms, and an outdoor grilling area -- all designed to simulate the spaces and equipment used by home cooks. Our Photo Studio contains nine kitchens with shooting bays that are used for food photography and video productions.

We are passionate about cooking and create food content for brands to include Allrecipes, Better Homes and Gardens, Forks Over Knives, Magnolia Journal, Midwest Living, and Traditional Home.

About the Role:

You will

  • Learn the art of recipe development and testing for multiple brands. By the end of the internship, you will be proficient in recipe testing best practices which includes recipe preparation, taking notes, recipe research, recipe writing and editing.

  • Gain experience in how to pitch food ideas and have the opportunity to develop and test a recipe for a print or digital story.

  • Understand how to create recipe content for specific dietary requirements to include gluten free and vegan

We are seeking an intern who is passionate about creating new recipes for a variety of our food brands and has an Interest in pursuing a career in food content creation.

  • Comfortable in a working kitchen environment

  • Passionate about tracking food trends and keeping up with food news

  • A positive, can-do attitude who works independently and as part of a team

  • Excellent time management skills

  • Organized and detail oriented

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to take direction and communicate directions to others.
