Principal Software Engineer Internship (Summer 2021) in Des Moines, Iowa

What to expect from your internship?

We’re committed to providing you a great experience. This past summer, we held our first ever virtual based internship program – and had great success. We’re continuing to create plans to provide you the best experience and will share updates regarding the location throughout the interview process.

Location

Internship location will be either onsite in Des Moines, IA or virtually from your location selection.

Our IT internship program offers opportunities for 85+ IT interns and has a strong reputation with over 20 years of history. You’ll work on real projects with a range of team members, including other interns through senior level management. We'll place you in a role customized to your expertise and interests, all while working in a collaborative Agile team environment. Principal's Software Engineer interns solve problems by gathering user requirements, defining systems functionalities, and developing testable code in various languages. You will aid in improving operations, documenting and demonstrating solutions, and ensuring software is updated and secure. You will learn how to design and develop software and systems that meet user needs and comply with project and industry standards.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Current enrollment or has a degree in an accredited program of study

  • Minimum 2.8 Cumulative GPA

  • Involvement in your community

  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills

  • Strong work ethic

  • A passion for technology which includes:

  • Technical curiosity

  • Ability to think critically and solution for technology-based problems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current enrollment or has a degree in an accredited program of study related to IT, engineering, or other correlated areas (ex: computer science, MIS, engineering, etc.)

  • Programming experience in any of these languages – Java, .Net, etc.

  • Leadership positions within student, work or community organizations

  • Past IT internship or work experience
