DES MOINES WATER WORKS Service Worker Summer Help in DES MOINES, Iowa

Under the general direction of the Supervisor of Field Service, serves as second member on a 2-personteam and assists with installing, removing and maintaining meters and meter reading systems. Hoursfor this opening are 7:30am to 4:00pm Monday through Friday each week. There is 1 positionavailable, lasting for 16 weeks.EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Assists with installing, removing, repairing, and maintaining water meters, and repairing meteringreading systems.Assists with field tests for 1 i" and larger water meters, including performing manual labor duties suchas moving large hoses, operating valves, etc.Assists with checking plumbing for leaks and low pressure in meter pits.Assists with maintaining records, and helps prepares reports as required.Adheres to all workplace and safety laws, regulations, standards and practices and contributes to a safework culture.Performs other duties of similar nature.QUALIFICATIONS:Must be 18 years of age or older.Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.Licenses/Certifications: A valid Iowa driver's license with a good driving record.SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION:Frequently climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crouches, crawls, walks, pushes, pulls, fingers, grasps,repetitive motion, stands, squats, twists, bends over, reaches, and lifts above and below shoulders.Frequently exerts 100 ft. /pounds or more while twisting, pulling and bending.Occasionally handles up to 100 pounds and lifts 50 poundWorks in confined spaces with a minimum opening of 18 inchesDes Moines Water Works is an Equal Opportunity EmployerE-Verify Process: Des Moines Water Works participates in E-Verify and will provide the Social SecurityAdministration (SSA) and, if necessary, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS),with informationfrom each applicant's Form I-9 to confirm work authorization.
