What you'll do:
In this role, you will guide domain model and taxonomy development for content objects and related entities in the ecosystem and recommend and help solution for Principal and related businesses. You are required to formulate and apply mathematical modeling and other optimizing methods to develop and interpret information that assists management with decision making, policy formulation or other managerial functions.
You’ll play a crucial role in leading world class financial solutions, logistics and distribution capacity planning and diagnostics, network design, flow modeling and operations research on regional and global levels. You’ll help drive decisions that optimize total cost, lead time on strategic and tactical, and more opportunistic levels. You will present compelling, validated stories to all levels of organization, including peers, senior management and internal customers to drive both strategic and operational changes in business.
Partner to understand information needs
Contribute to our meta knowledge strategy for all content types, models and pipelines
Partner with data science teams to ensure their content conforms to standards and that content pipelines can be substantially automated
Transform data to meet user experience requirements
Work with data to align content and data science models
We’re looking for someone with:
Current enrollment or has a BS, MS, PhD degree in an Engineering and or Information Sciences related field, with a preference towards a PhD
Minimum 3.0 Cumulative GPA
Experience as a working ontologist or knowledge engineer
Strong influencing skills to lead alignment and adoption on process and methods
Good communication skills
People skills that will build bridges
Creativity in defining challenging exploratory projects and developing solutions
Technical proficiency with standards-based knowledge engineering tools (ie. OWL SQL, SPARQL, SHACL, RDF)
Experience designing successful information architectures for large-scale systems
Experience developing ontologies and taxonomies for different knowledge domains
Experience in design thinking and the impacts this can have on user experience
Experience developing data transformations and projections
Internship location will be either onsite in Des Moines, IA or virtually from your location selection. Decisions on the location will be shared throughout the interview process.
