MidAmerican Energy Company Intern - Project Development in Des Moines, Iowa

The Project Development Internship is providing an opportunity to develop college students that are currently pursuing a bachelor's or master’s degree in engineering, business or a similar field. Interns will be exposed to a variety ofactivities associated with the evaluation, development and construction for projects including but not limited to power generation additions and updates, electric vehicle infrastructure, energy storage, decommissioning, environmental, communucations, facilities, assest acquisitions, new technology, and other projects as assisgned. Interns will have the opportunity to apply knowledge and skills learned in college and demonstrate abilities in the workplace. The position is temporary, nonexempt, and full-time/hourly through the summer. Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Functions) Support the project engineers, developers, analysts, managers and director for the research, planning, evaluation, budgeting, procurement, design and construction of project development’s, power generation additions and upgrades, electric vehicle infrastructure, energy storage, decommissioning, environmental, communications, facilities, asset acquisitions, new technology, and other projects. Evaluates new and proven technologies for the potential implementation into the company’s generation portfolio. Supports the due diligence process for project acquisition and/or development, equipment procurement and construction by properly identifying the risks and benefits of potential projects and equipment supply, including identifying the resource, environment, real estate, permitting and construction risks and costs. Prepares and maintains department reports, presentations, project schedules and plans. Data analysis and entry. Support community outreach and mailings. Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned. Must be a college student, sophomore or higher standing, currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master’s degree program in engineering, business or related field. Must be able to work fulltime May 2023 through August 2023. Prior utility or energy industry experience helpful but not required. Software skills needed to be used in extracting information from various sources, conducting analysis, building reports and assisting workforce to achieve goals.
