MidAmerican Energy Company Intern – Human Resources in Des Moines, Iowa

Purpose of Position The Human Resources Intern will gain experience working as an HR Generalist, supporting all of BHE Renewables. The incumbent will gain experience in talent management, recruitment, employee relations, data analysis, compliance, and general HR best practices. The purpose of the co-op/internship position is to develop college students that are pursuing a bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or related field. Interns will be exposed to a variety of projects, activities, and business operations that occur in the renewable energy business. Interns will have the opportunity to apply knowledge and skills learned in college and demonstrate abilities in the workplace. The position is temporary, nonexempt, part-time/hourly. Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Functions) Responsible to assist the recruitment functions, including job descriptions, postings, screening candidates and file retention. Assist in the preparation of a variety of information, including regular audits, report compilation and general data analysis. Support a variety of HR projects and initiatives, including onboarding new hires, training and development items, leave administration, reviewing a variety of data, and documenting business processes. Perform additional responsibilities as assigned. Must be a college student, second year or higher standing, currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in human resources, business administration, or related field. Effective analytical and problem-solving skills. Solid communication skills (written and verbal), as well as computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Effective project management skills. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and complete projects within tight deadlines. Employment is contingent upon passing a post-offer background check and drug screen.
