Compressor Controls Corporation HCI Designer Intern in DES MOINES, Iowa

SUMMARY The HCI Designer will study user interactions with the companys industrial control system to help identify key areas of improvements and to generate next-generation HMI product concepts. The HCI Designer will work with a Full-stack Software Engineer in translating the concepts into working prototypes which will be used to engage users for feedback. The HCI Designer will exhibit genuine interest in solving work problems through proactively asking questions, clearly communicating and collaborating both internally and externally to grow the business. In addition, the HCI Designer is responsible for understanding our competition and customers and showing initiative to learn and continuously improve company processes. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Listed in order of relevance: - Observe and study user behaviors as they interact with companys current products. - Create a study report outlining the key findings and their impacts on user experience. - Generate functional specifications and designs satisfying next generation product requirements. - Work with Product Manager to organize a study group to engage current product users. - Respond to change productively and handle other duties as required. - Follow all company safety policies and procedures. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE - Current or recent graduate in Bachelor/Master Human-Computer Interaction or Industrial Design. - Independent Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) research experience preferred. - UI/UX design experience for software products required. - Experience in Agile/Scrum team preferred. KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS - Domain expertise and self-guided ability in road-mapping and executing HCI activities required. - Working knowledge of Adobe XD or equivalent UI mockup software tools required. - Strong visual, verbal and written communication skills. - Working knowledge of HTML5 and CSS as well as front-end web frameworks preferred. - Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently - Effective analytical and problem-solving skills - Ability to read, speak, and write in English required.
