Position: Field Data Analysis Intern
Location: Remote
Targeted start date summer 2023
We are looking for a summer intern on our Data Science team. The intern will have the opportunity to work on two exciting projects with the ability to do independent research and build critical tools for our team. These projects involve independent research into statistical techniques to improve our field data analysis pipelines as well as the visualization of model output. The intern will produce a workflow for model development across our field sites and flexible R and Python packages for the visualization of various standard reporting metrics across the Data Science team. These outputs will help us process, analyze, and communicate data more effectively to stakeholders across the organization. We are seeking applications for a full-time internship lasting approximately 3 months.
Responsibilities:
Research statistical and machine learning methods for linear mixed effects model development to formalize and automate field trial analyses
Incorporate model development best practices into field data analysis workflows in Python and R
Communicate with Data Science team members to gather requirements for model selection workflow and data visualization needs
Incorporate team members’ visualization needs into flexible R and Python graphing packages using plotly, ggplot, etc
Incorporate data visualization best practices to create clear, information-dense visualizations for a variety of expert and non-expert audiences
Physical Demands:
Job will involve mostly office and computer-based work
Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands, or fingers
Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing
Communicating with others to exchange information
Qualifications and Experience:
Experience with linear mixed effects models
Experience coding in Python and R
Experience communicating analysis results to diverse stakeholders
Knowledge of Bayesian statistics preferred
Machine learning/pattern recognition experience preferred
Pursuing graduate degree in statistics/data science/computer science
Must be authorized to work in the United States
