Kemin Industries Discovery Research Intern in Des Moines, Iowa

Overview

Kemin Industries is seeking a high-potential student with a background in applied chemistry or chemical engineering interested in a summer internship with our Discovery Research department! As an intern, you will be trained under the Feed Technology team to develop breakthrough technology and new molecules to serve Feed Industries globally. Your responsibilities will include laboratory hands-on support for research, collecting and presenting data related to our current research program, and working across R&D departments on the global research project. In addition, you will have an opportunity to work with a multidisciplinary team of experts to transfer the knowledge developed by the Global Discovery Research Department and Worldwide Engineering and Marketing.

Responsibilities

  • Execution of hands-on laboratory research, including preparation of materials and conducting of experiments to support projects.

  • Documenting procedures and results in laboratory notebooks, digital lab management systems.

  • Communication of results and active participation in group meetings.

  • Spearhead a summer project that will leave a lasting impact.

  • Assist with various tasks within your team.

  • Partaking in the Kemin Summer Internship Program events and training.

  • Prepare and give a final presentation to Kemin Industries leadership.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled as a first-year, second-year student, junior, or senior with an accredited college or university, pursuing a degree in Chemistry or Engineering

  • Ability to commit to 10-12 weeks of full-time employment during the months of May-August.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • A high level of passion for your field of study
