What you'll do

As a Data Engineer intern here at Principal, you’ll have the opportunity to utilize many different facets of data! You could work with big data infrastructure by creating analytic models and generate insights to solve business questions, develop solutions using a diverse set of analytic tools to realize the models, or make an impact by using data wrangling (preparing raw data for use in statistical and analytical modeling).

Our IT internship program offers opportunities for 85+ IT interns and has a strong reputation with over 20 years of history. You’ll work on real projects with a range of technology and business team members, including other interns through senior level management. We'll place you in a role customized to your expertise and interests, all while working in a collaborative Agile team environment. This is an excellent opportunity to understand and learn more about Principal’s IT Engineering culture!

  • Current enrollment or has a degree an accredited program of study related to IT, engineering, or other correlated areas (ex: computer science, MIS, engineering, etc.)

  • Minimum 2.8 Cumulative GPA

  • Involvement in your community

  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills

  • Strong work ethic

  • A passion for technology and solving problems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Intermediate Level Programming Skills (Java, .Net, Python, R, etc.)

  • Knowledge of and interest in statistics and modeling (via pure Statistics, use in Psychology or Sociology)
