Corteva Agriscience Computational Biologist Intern in Des Moines, Iowa


Grow what's next. Grow your future. Corteva Agriscience is seeking a Computational Biologist Intern in Des Moines, IA to develop and deploy bioinformatics solutions using high performance computing. This position will be aligned with the Output Traits group in Trait Discovery R&D to work on multi-omics analyses for soybean seed composition. This position would ideally span summer 2023, with some flexibility.

Responsibilities - What You'll Do:

  • Develop and deploy state-of-the-art bioinformatics and analytical pipelines on a high-performance computing environment

  • Work independently, with the guidance of a mentor, on an interdisciplinary team project

  • Analyze & interpret data from multi-omics platforms including transcriptomics and metabolomics

  • Develop insightful data visualizations that provide clear interpretations of results and data trends

  • Participate in planning experimental design and field sample collection for follow up experiments

  • Regularly communicate results and interpretation to the interdisciplinary team


Requirements - What You'll Bring:

  • Graduate or advanced undergraduate student with interdisciplinary experience in bioinformatics, computer science, data science, machine learning, molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, plant science, statistics, or related fields

  • Will have completed a course in Biochemistry by the start date

  • Proficiency with Python is required

  • Experience working with linux based high performance computing environment is required

  • Ability to quickly learn new software tools and data analysis methods

  • Knowledge of plant metabolism and metabolic engineering is a plus

  • Experience with cloud-based computing environments is a plus

  • Experience working with large datasets comprising genomics, transcriptomics and/or metabolomics data is a plus
