Easter Seals of Iowa Advanced Practicums/Internship- Brain Health in Des Moines, Iowa
Easterseals Iowa is seeking MSW students for advanced practicums or internships within our Brain Health Department. We offer a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience across multiple programs, including Outpatient Therapy, Crisis Stabilization Services, and Multisystemic Therapy (MST). You will work with a diverse client base, providing individual, family, and group therapy, conducting assessments, and designing interventions. This is a great opportunity for students who are passionate about community-based work and want to build their clinical skills. This level of practicum/internship is typically 600 to 800 hours over the course of an academic year, though length varies by school.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct individual, family, and group therapy in both office and community settings
Perform assessments and brief intervention work with various populations
Support Multisystemic Therapy with case management, assessment, and intervention implementation
Lead group therapy sessions, including DBT-informed groups and topics of personal interest
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care
Requirements:
Enrollment in an accredited MSW or Mental Health Counseling program
Interest in clinical work and community-based services
We are able to work with students requiring flexibility for non-traditional hours (evenings/weekends)
Ability to work independently and in a team setting
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Advanced Practicum students who do not wish to engage in community-based work should not apply.
Applications will be accepted until all positions are filled, generally 8 to 10 months before the start date. We typically support up to three advanced practicum students per school year.
