Position Overview

Collins Aerospace is currently seeking qualified candidates for entry-level SW engineering interns to participate in the Summer Engineering Projects Program (SEPP) in our Military Avionics & Helicopters Flight Management & Controls department located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Teams are comprised of cross-functional engineers working in an AGILE environment, focused on the design and development of software-only products. The SEPP project for 2022 will involve collaborating with Collins Technical Fellows and the Avoidance Re-Router (ARR) development team to develop a prototype that will introduce technological enhancements to ARR, including Artificial Intelligence and/or Machine Learning features. At the end of the session, participants will have an opportunity to present their solution to Engineering Leadership and Business Development representatives:

FACE (Future Airborne Capability Environment) - Our software as a product used to support not only navigation, flight planning, and guidance with our MFMS-1000 solution, but also hazard avoidance in real time as part of our Avoidance Re-Router (ARR-7000), which are being deployed on a variety of emerging platforms and next generation pursuits. Primary Responsibilities:

Student employees are expected to be able to adapt to change, learn independently, ask questions, collaborate with teammates to make the best decisions, and be self motivated to contribute in a work environment positively. Interest in, and experience with autonomy and autonomous systems is preferred for this role.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.

  • Working knowledge of C++ and Python

  • Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder
