This is an exciting and challenging SHE position supporting administrative and technical support to a progressive Safety, Health, and Environmental department.The Safety Health & Environment (SHE) organization is a trusted business partner committed to supporting all employees in delivering a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible workplace. A challenging opportunity exists for a motivated individual to join the SHE team.

The summer intern will provide general safety, health, and environmental (SHE) administrative and technical support as directed by a SHE professional. This includes, technical Industrial Hygiene support such as air monitoring, ventilation reviews, area noise reviews, etc. Additionally they may be asked to support our local SHE teams and interact with company employees to address directed SHE compliance assurance tasks.

These tasks will include: engagement with employee incident investigations; document efforts and corrective actions in the Company safety management systems, assist with LockTagout program duties, participate in Industrial Hygiene sampling, PPE assessments, Environmental reviews and permitting, site walks and other SHE compliance activities. The selected intern will be working at BAE Systems located in Cedar Rapids Iowa.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

• Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree and on course to graduate in 2027

• Excellent interpersonal engagement and communication skills

• Excellent writing and calculation skills

• Strong knowledge of chemistry

• Competent in the use of Microsoft Office software

• Some basic awareness of safety in the business environment

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

• Currently enrolled in a Safety, Health, Environmental, or Industrial Hygiene program.

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $36296 - $48984

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.

Temporary employees generally are not eligible for BAE Systems benefits, but can elect to participate in the 401(k) savings plan. Temporary employees working 20 hours per week are eligible for medical benefits, the employee assistance program, and business travel accident insurance.
