Job Description SummaryThe Asset Liability Management (ALM) & Hedging department within the CFO organization is responsible for hedging the company’s assets against market risks. Transamerica offers a variety of financial products, like variable annuities, which obligate the company to make payments (liabilities) to its customers. By properly hedging the company’s assets using financial derivatives, ALM & Hedging fulfills a vital, revenue-generating role by creating a positive spread between assets and liabilities.As a member of ALM & Hedging you will work to solve business problems using financial engineering, software engineering, statistics, economic analysis, finance, and accounting skills.We offer challenging problems and an opportunity to learn from experts in multiple fields across the financial services industry. Interns will be utilizing a modern open source tool set in a Linux environment and will be exposed to all aspects of computational finance which include theory, data, modeling, implementation, testing, reporting, and communication.Internships are short-term work experiences for a designated period of time that allow college students the opportunity to observe and participate in the professional work environment, to explore how his/her interests relate to possible careers, and to gain practical experience in an industry relating to their field of study.Candidates for internships are required to graduate in Dec 2020 or later.Job DescriptionResponsibilities to include but not limited to:
Implement software using an agile approach.
Assist in devising, documenting and implementing quantitative business models.
Gather pertinent information and data sources across disciplines to formulate solutions.
This role may include work in ALM, modeling, research, trading/hedging strategies.
The role requires design and implementation of software or the extraction, transformation, and loading of the data.
Candidate must be an enrolled student (not graduated) and graduation date must be December 2020 or later
Majored in mathematics, actuarial science, finance, economics, physics, computer science or engineering
Communication skills to convey complex information to business both verbally and in writing at- Experience with C++ or Python or C#- Experience developing on Windows- Experience with open source software- Working knowledge of SQL
Experience in the financial services industry
Knowledge of equity, fixed income, credit, and derivative instruments
Compatibility with Transamerica’s Future Fit mindset
