About the Role:

The GreatAmerica Internal Audit Internship is designed to recruit the best and brightest finance/accounting/business students from four-year colleges and universities in order to strengthen our team for the future. The intern will perform basic internal audit engagements and participate in presentations of the results to senior leadership.

Essential Functions

  • Perform and report on reoccurring internal audits as assigned in accordance with the annual audit plan.

  • Research current internal audit best practices/techniques with each engagement.

  • Communicate findings and draft comprehensive and complete reports for the areas audited.

  • Follow up on audit recommendations to ensure resolution.

  • Build effective professional relationships within Internal Audit and throughout the company.

  • Assist in preparing quarterly reports to the Audit Committee and Senior Leadership.

  • Assist external auditors with audits they have Internal Audit perform for their annual audit.

  • Provide input on department’s risk assessment and annual plan.

  • Live the GreatAmerica principles; get involved in cross-functional team efforts as assigned and required.

  • Perform other duties as required.

Education: Candidate must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree or graduate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field with a minimum GPA of 3.25.

Experience: No previous work experience required, but prior internships or work in finance/accounting is considered a plus.

Skills and Abilities

Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Visio software a plus.

Other Requirements: Must have excellent analytical abilities and problem solving skills. Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and possess outstanding computer skills. Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills to work with all levels of the organization. Must be an organized, creative, team-player with initiative. Must respond well to challenges and have a strong desire to learn. Must demonstrate sound business judgment.
