Job Description:

Alliant Energy is recruiting for an intern who would work closely with the Distribution System Operations team. The DSO monitors the overall electric and gas distribution gird and is responsible for switching activities. This group coordinates field response to outages and other emergencies. The intern for this team will work throughout the 2020 summer - see below for additional details.

Pay: Competitive wage earning $17.00 - $21.50

Hours: 8:00AM-4:30PM

Location: Cedar Rapids, IW

Start Date: May 18th or May 26th, 2020

Job Responsibilities :

As a Distribution System Operations Intern you will work with subject matter experts to develop a comprehensive operation and technical process document. This may include:

Establishing and conducting sessions with key stakeholders to gather and analyze data, document processes related to electric/gas technologies and operations.

Working with a peer intern to identify and document differences in Iowa and Wisconsin processes.

Analyze key performance indicators and processes to make recommendations for best practices for the company.

Job Qualifications :

We are looking for Sophomores or Juniors who are:

Pursuing a Bachelor's degree related to Computer Science, Networking/ Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering

The ability to understand different technical terms and translate to operational documentation or training

The ability to facilitate effectively

Preferred Skills:

Knowledge of SCADA, OMS, Work Management, GIS and other technologies

Knowledge of the electric and gas distribution grid and/or distribution control center environments

Previous internship experience

Organizational involvement/leadership experience related to this position

Strong research and data analytic skills

Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

Ability to work effectively in a diverse work environment
