Job Description SummaryIn this internship, you will have the opportunity to be part of the Internal Controls & Compliance team at Global Technology Services (GTS) working on real business problems. The successful candidate will be available to work part-time in the spring and fall, and full-time throughout the summer, allowing them to take the knowledge from the classroom and apply it to a real-world setting. You will build relationships with key leaders and team members in all areas of finance and accounting.

The GTS Internal Controls & Compliance team enables and supports effective IT Risk Management within GTS through risk identification, assessment of identified risks, and providing regular monitoring and oversight of a comprehensive risk profile. At Aegon, effective risk management and control is achieved through implementation of sets of controls, selected through prescribed risk management processes and managed using the IT risk management and control policies, processes, procedures, organizational structure, and hardware to protect the identified information assets.Job DescriptionResponsibilities

  • Help review the implementation of control requirements and appropriate information technology (IT) policies and procedures that are consistent with the organization's mission and goals.

  • Support compliance/audit activities as assigned in relation to Sarbanes Oxley (SOX), IT Control Framework, Service Operation Control audits, manage internal/external audit engagements and third-party business reviews

  • Support control assessments first time and ongoing (Process, Application, and Infrastructure)

  • Support audit findings and recommendations to ensure that appropriate mitigation actions are taken.

  • Help identify control requirements specific to an information technology (IT) system in all phases of the system life cycle.

  • Assist with system administrator work within ServiceNow

  • Attend intern program events and participate in Build Your Network/Networking programs


  • To qualify for this internship, applicants must be currently enrolled full-time at a college or university pursuing a specific degree program. Internships are not available for students who have completed their college education or who will graduate prior to the conclusion of the internship.

  • Preference is given to candidates pursuing a degree in Management Information Systems (MIS), Computer Science, OR within Accounting, Finance, or Business and minoring in MIS or other technical programs.

  • Strong written & verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Proven analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills

  • Reliable, dependable, and detail-oriented

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

Working Conditions

  • Hybrid/Office Environment


The hourly rate for this position is set at $19.00. This is an estimate, based on preexisting standards, operational needs and other considerations permitted by law. The wage may vary above and below the stated amounts, as permitted by Colorado Equal Pay Transparency Rule 4.1.2.

The ideal candidate would be able to work the entire 2023 year, working part-time in the spring, full-time in the summer, and then part-time again in the fall
