Manufacturing Engineering Intern Requisition ID: 20724 Job Location(s): Ames, IA, US Job Description Danfoss inAmes, Iowa, is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Intern to join our operational services team. The operational services team in Ames manages all painting and packaging processes and shipping/receiving operations. This internship will provide the intern the opportunity to work on medium to large-scale projects related to safety, packaging optimization, paint automation, and assembly processes improvements.Job Responsibilities Design and implementation of manufacturing processes to improve safety, quality, and productivityPerforming calculations and statistical analysis to analyze system and process performanceSpecifying assembly procedures and setting up manufacturing execution systemsCollecting and analyzing paint and packaging processes performance dataSupporting new packaging automation projects.Improving paint lines productivity.Run discrete event simulations using Simio.Optimize packaging materials usage.Background and Skills Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Agriculture Engineering or Industrial TechnologyGPA: 3.0 or above; Sophomore and above preferred.Commitment to work 8 months (full-time 40 hours per week in the summer; part-time 20 hours per week during the spring/fall semester(s)Problem-solving skills, ability to set and meet deadlines.Basic knowledge of any CAD package; Autocad and/or Inventor, Simens NX, Solidworks or CATIAGeneral Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing concepts (5s, Kaizen, Kanban, PDCA, Poka-Yoke, etc..)Familiarity with standard operating procedures and controlled documents (MIFA, Control plan and PFMEA)Familiar with basic hand toolsDiscrete Event Simulation (using Simio or Arena) knowledge is a plusFamiliarity with additive manufacturing concepts is a plus.Danfoss - Engineering Tomorrow At Danfoss, we are engineering solutions that allow the world to use resources in smarter ways - driving the sustainable transformation of tomorrow.
