Renewable Energy Group Intern, Treasury in Ames, Iowa

Our comprehensive, 12-week paid internship program gives you the opportunity to test your skills working for the nation’s leading producer of cleaner fuels and developer of renewable chemicals. This internship will begin May 17, 2021 and end August 7, 2021. REG values our interns. Our hopes are to host you in person, but with the potential of being remote like we committed to in the summer of 2020.


The purpose of this position is to assist with functions of banking, credit functions, current and prospective customer’s documentation, and cash application to accounts receivable. This position will also be helping accounts payable along with providing support to document working capital balances for all entities.


Key Accountabilities:

Day-to-Day Activities

•Cash application to accounts receivable

•Provide support to document working capital balances for all entities

•Work with current & prospective customer credit files

•Assist with tracking and filings of past customer reviews

•Enter accounts payable invoices in a timely manner

•Review accounts payable invoices through daily/weekly payment runs

Banking/Credit Function

•Provide support to regular and weekly borrowing base submission files

•Assist with daily cash applications and working capital balances

•Work with the credit department in gathering payment history, financials, and trade references on prospective and current customers

Special Projects and Analysis

•Converting paper application into electronic submissions

•Participate in additional projects as they arise

Other frequent duties:

•Provide support to the Treasurer as needed

Perform other duties as assigned


Be available for daily work and overtime as required

Communicate effectively with customers and co-workers (oral and written)

Demonstrate attention to detail

Ability to use office equipment (computer, copy/fax machine, telephone, postage meter, etc)

Organize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meeting deadlines

Provide suggestions to offer alternative perspectives to situations

Ability to perform algebraic and logic calculations

Collect, analyze and organize information into a logical and efficient format to support economic and efficiency analyses

Work independently or with others as a team to complete assigned projects

Provide personal contact information on an as needed basis for official business purposes


Education Required: Pursuing a bachelor’s degree – Finance, or related degree

**Senior or Junior status required

Experience Required: Accounting or analytical experience preferred

**Business environment experience, relevant courses, club participation and internship preferred

Skills Required:

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word)

Advanced math, finance, and accounting skills
