Principal is seeking two interns for Summer 2018, one to join the RFP Writer/Project Oversight Team and one to join the Product Management Team within Principal Global Investors.

This intern will be exposed to and be responsible for:

  • Learn how an asset management organization operates by seeing the full scope of what you need to know and all the areas we do business with on a daily basis

  • RFP Writer/Project Oversight Team: Coordinate and prioritize the gathering and preparation of initial RFP, RFI, DDQ and consultant questionnaire responses; interpret and analyze qualitative and quantitative information extracted from the database for applicability and completeness. They also will propose and implement improvements to the proposal and questionnaire processes (i.e. build templates, categorize content) to increase efficiency, quality, and success of RFPs and retention of clients

  • Product Management Team: Drive and support the gathering and retention of assets under management by working closely with sales, marketing, and investment professionals across all distribution channels. They also will learn specifics of particular investment products and teams, identify what needs to be done to drive their success in different channels, and champion those efforts independently


  • Applicants must be pursuing a bachelor’s or graduate level degree in Finance/Economics/International Business/Accounting or related degree

  • 3.0 Cumulative GPA or above is required

  • Ideal applicants will have background knowledge of what an investment strategy is and the ability to build relationships quickly

  • Strong interest in pursuing a career in the asset management industry

  • Involvement in student organizations on campus or in the community

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous internship or related experience working with investments

  • 3.5 Cumulative GPA or above

  • Ideal applicants will be able to embrace chance and work in a fast paced environment

  • Leadership positions or initiative within student organizations or in the community
