The Internship Experience

Principal will host over 200 interns across various business units and teams. You will meet with senior executives, gain career direction, and contribute to work that helps our customers live their best lives - all at a Fortune 500 company who invests in your personal and professional development.

Responsibilities

We plan to offer the following opportunities (non-software engineering) for Summer 2018.

  • Data Engineers: Design, build, and manage information or "big data" infrastructure. They develop the architecture that helps analyze and process data in the way the organization needs it. They also make sure related systems are performing smoothly.

  • Technology Infrastructure: Assists in managing our technology infrastructure, including voice and data connectivity, messaging, collaboration, mobile and desktop devices, mainframe and distributed servers and storage. The backbone of our IT organization!

  • Information Security/Risk Management: Serves as the first line of defense against cyber attacks by monitoring and analyzing potential threats to Principal’s network. Work includes monitoring network traffic, malware investigation and assisting with implementing new technologies.

  • UI/UX Designer: Passionately interested in our customers and strive to learn everything we can about their behaviors, attitudes, and emotions to help define the digital experiences we create. Work includes human-centered research methods, iterative prototyping, interaction design, and usability testing. HTML, CSS and JavaScript skills are preferred along with interaction design skills, working knowledge of adobe suites and other wireframing tools like Balsamiq.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Current enrollment in an accredited program of study, including: software engineering, computer science, MIS, computer engineering, or related programs

  • Minimum 2.8 Cumulative GPA

  • Involvement in student organizations on campus or in the community

  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills

  • Strong work ethic

  • A passion for technology and solving problems

Preferred Qualification:

  • Intermediate Level Programming Skills (Java, .Net, COBOL, etc.)

  • Leadership positions or initiative within student organizations or within the community
